Well that sounds obvious, right? I mean it is and it isn’t. Yes you have to be social to get ahead in social media but being S.O.C.I.A.L. is something else. Let me explain further…

How to be S.O.C.I.A.L.

I noticed a lot of social media experts who help others get to grips with their social media content have a nifty little acronym. I admit, I was using them, they helped me figure out what content to include when I planned my social media for the month.

And whilst they gave me loads of brilliant and useful inspiration, I wanted to create my own to help me and business owners like you to plan our social media.

And that acronym is S.O.C.I.A.L. 

Here’s how you use it:

Selling – promote your products and services; sell, sell, sell. Whilst it is pretty spammy to sell alllll the time, you do need to include some promotional posts so that your followers know what’s going on and you get the chance to create some return on your investment 

Opportunity – let your followers know about any offers you have, how they can work with you and the benefits of working with you. This is less obvious than the Selling day post. Use it to build up trust. Remember: potential clients want to know what they will get from working with you, not just what you will do. 

Community – ask questions, start conversations, use these posts to build your community. Another way to help your followers know, like and trust you: speak to them, have conversations, be a part of a community (especially if it’s one you have created)

Inspirational – where does yours come from? Share quotes, yours and others, including testimonials. Share your story, how you got to where you are. It may resonate with others.

Action – this is a chance to inform and educate your followers so that they can take action to eliminate their pain points. You can use these posts to elevate your position in your industry to one of expert or leader. Show that you know your stuff! 

Likable – share something personal, fun or interesting about you, or a picture of your pet / workspace / coffee etc. Bring some of YOU into your social media. If you can, show your face 🙂
